At Yorkswood Primary School, we believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals and fostering a strong sense of community. Our vibrant House System plays a key role in achieving this, encouraging teamwork, celebrating achievements, and promoting positive values.
We have four houses, each named after historical figures and families deeply connected to our local area: Montford, Wingfield, Catesby, and Digby. These names not only connect our students to the rich history of their community but also inspire a sense of pride and belonging.
Our House System is designed to recognise and reward students who demonstrate our core school values:
Students earn points for their houses by demonstrating these values in various ways, from academic excellence and acts of kindness to participation in school events and consistent effort in their learning.
Counters: Awarded for consistent effort, participation, and positive behaviour.
We keep track of house points weekly and celebrate the winning house in our assemblies. We also have termly totals, with the overall winning house receiving a special reward. Our house point charts, displayed proudly in our school, create a friendly sense of competition and motivate students to contribute to their house's success.
We believe in celebrating both individual and collective achievements. Students can earn certificates and a trophy.
Our House System is more than just a competition. It’s a way to build a strong school community, encourage positive behaviour, and help students develop important life skills like teamwork, leadership, and responsibility. We encourage students to support each other, celebrate each other's successes, and work together to achieve common goals.
We are proud of our House System and the positive impact it has on our students and our school. It's a vital part of what makes Yorkswood Primary School such a special place to learn and grow.
